In a game that was a closely fought affair with very few scoring chances for either side it was Carlisle who scored first.
A quickly taken tap penalty was moved across the field for the Carlisle player to beat the cover tackle & score an unconverted try in the corner.
Kendal's only scoring opportunity came midway through the first half but the penalty kick at goal was wide of the mark.
A long range penalty attempt by Carlisle in the sixty-fifth minute led to Kendal levelling the scores. The kick was short & caught by hooker Matt Jackson who ran the ball out of defence with conviction he linked with flanker Peter Redhead & with several other players involved the ball was swiftly moved into the visitors twenty-two from where standoff Sean Garnett broke through the final line of defence to score an unconverted try.
With the last play of the game & arguably the best move of the game Kendal looked to have stolen their first victory.
The forwards won good possession for the ball to be moved along the back line - the final pass put right wing Anthony Gage on a clear run to the corner to score.
Controversially the referee blew for the forward pass & the end of the game.
