Kendal Development XV 8 v Egremont 5
The conditions were wet, muddy and very windy at Mint Bridge on Saturday, when the Development Squad turned out a magnificent team performance in defeating Egremont for only the second time this season.
Kendal more than held their own against Cumbria league leaders, Egremont.
The Black and Ambers' back row of Nicholson, Chaplow and Whiteman set a fine example in battling time and again in defence to disrupt any opposition options.
Nathan Wooff's excellent line kicking often put Egremont on the back foot against a rampant home side.
Having missed one attempt at goal after only three minutes' play, Nathan Wooff made sure to give Kendal a 3-0 lead soon after.
This however was shortlived, as Egremont came straight back just before half time to score the first try of the game to take the lead.
Half time 3 - 5
Kendal started the second half the brighter, and after working their way towards the opposition line, the forwards drove and drove again, and Robbie Collinson crashed over for the decisive try, to give Kendal a 8 - 5 lead.
As Egremont's frustrations gsined the better of them, Kendal's fine defence pinned them back time and time again. Egremont were not being allowed to run the ball, as Kendal set up some great tackling.
When the referee's final whistle blew, Kendal fully deserved their third third successive victory, as they moved away from the bottom of the league table. Tony Bingham was a proud captain!
